Feed Africa Initiative is geared towards economically empowering residents by the sale of hens and poultry products such as eggs and meat. Agriculture is a significant industry in Kenya as it contributes to 21% of the country’s economy. The poultry sector is challenged by low productivity that is contributed by the unavailability of feed, diseases, poor genetics for the birds, and recurring droughts.
Feed Africa Initiative is focused on enabling farmers to adopt new technologies and testing models that ensure smart feeding practices by the farmers. Research on disease surveillance would enhance the production of poultry. Feed Africa Initiative has collaborated with several research institutes and Universities to enable poultry projects to run effectively.
